Peeled board is the main raw material for plywood production. Each different type of peeled board will produce products with different quality and designs. The quality of the veneer will depend on the quality of the wood. So what types of wood are mainly used in the production of peeled boards? Let’s find out with Woodwave in the article below.

Specialized types of wood used to produce peeled boards in Vietnam

In the past, raw materials for veneer production were often forest woods such as walnut and oak. Then, to diversify product designs and materials and limit the exploitation of rare and precious woods, planted woods or fruit trees are also used as raw materials to produce peeled boards. These types of wood have abundant raw materials, are easy to grow, have a quick harvest time, are cheap, easy to process, and bring high economic efficiency, so they are quite popular. Currently, on the market, popular types of veneer are rubber veneer, eucalyptus veneer, acacia veneer, pine veneer, melaleuca veneer, peach veneer.

1. Rubber peeling board

When it comes to rubber, people often only think of getting latex to produce mattresses and tires… However, after the rubber tree is tapped for latex, the wood will be the raw material to produce peeled boards. rubber.

Rubber wood is thick, has large fibers, is easy to manufacture, holds screws well, does not warp, has good elasticity, is termite and insect resistant. The color of rubber veneer is light yellow to gray, light to brown, so it is very suitable for making furniture.

However, rubber peeled boards have the disadvantage that they can expand due to heat or humidity.

2. Eucalyptus peeled board

Eucalyptus trees can adapt to barren places, poor nutrients, and harsh conditions, so they are easy to grow. Their growth period is short, so they can be exploited after only 5-7 years. This type of wood is quite hard, strong and heavy. However, eucalyptus wood dries quickly and easily warps.

Eucalyptus is quite hard, strong and heavy, but is not resistant to decay in the heartwood and is easily attacked by insects.

3. Acacia wood peeling board

Acacia wood is a tree that is easy to grow and grows strongly in Vietnam. Being grown on a large scale, the source of acacia wood material is relatively stable. If in the past, acacia wood was only known as the main raw material for the paper industry, today acacia wood is also widely used in the plywood industry. Acacia peeled boards have lower warping than other types of wood, and are flexible and mechanically durable.

Acacia wood peeling boards bring very good economic value because the price of acacia wood peeling boards is very reasonable and competitive but the quality is not inferior to natural wood peeling boards or other types of imported wood.

4. Pine wood veneer

Pine trees are large trees that often grow in temperate climates. This type of tree has a very good growth rate, the tree is upright, and the trunk is round, so it is easy to cut and process.

Pine wood has good bearing capacity, screws, nails, and glue have high adhesion. The wood is also easy to stain and polish. This type of wood is also relatively easy to dry, does not deform and has very beautiful wood grain, so when polished, it will be very shiny and eye-catching.

Pine wood planks have beautiful grain, many colors, and are easy to process to create items without the price being too high. The board has plastic inside so it is termite resistant, insect resistant and less hygroscopic. Therefore, pine veneer is one of the top choices as a raw material for furniture production.

5. Plywood peeled from mixed wood

Forest peeled boards are the common name for peeled boards peeled from woods such as eucalyptus, linden, acacia, oilwood, mother of pearl, fatwood… Then they are dried and stored. for use in plywood production. This product is also often used to press onto the top surface of industrial wood to create a complete plywood product.

Each type of mixed forest wood will have different sizes and characteristics. Forest veneer still retains the good properties of that type of wood, but has the added advantage of being rich, diverse in types, and highly aesthetic. Diverse types of mixed forest wood produce many boards with beautiful lengths and grain patterns.
